Dear Food, why do I love you so much?
When you do not repay the love as such
I love the strawberries and cream,
but then you make me bust out my seam
Mashed potatoes and gravy
sadly makes my thighs all wavy
The smell of fresh warm rolls in the air
reasures that feeling of "I don't care!"
Celery and nuts added to my stuffing
it all turns into Monday morning huffing and puffing
Don't forget about those jello salads
unfortunately makes my tummy sing grumbling ballads
Of course I have some turkey and ham
along with a sticky sweet yam
And I strongly have this conviction
that you are my one and only addiction
Cuz here I am stuffed to the brim
telling myself I'll make it to the gym
Just so I can justify
having one more slice of pie!

Today Was A Day That Was Meant For Me
Today was a day that was meant for me,
Thankfully it began with me on my knee.
Then rushing and hurring to get about,
And enter's my mind the full on doubt.
What will I feel today? If anything at all?
Unknown at the time, but it would end with a bawl.
You see...
Today was a day that was meant for me,
Heavenly Father, I know has heard my plea.
Feeling lonely and lost most of the time,
Trying to work towards my prime.
Quietly sitting with an open heart,
The soft wisperings and burning begins to start.
You see...
Today was a day that was meant for me,
Sometimes I still have the feeling to flee.
Sadly these feelings I can not avoid,
Even though I've seen other lives destroyed.
Then again comes the burning,
And I truely feel myself yearning.
So I stop and say to myself...
Today was a day that was meant for me,
For I know my spirit can be free.
Grateful for the Gospel I know and love,
A loving Heavenly Father I speak of.
Seeing his foundation solid and true,
For today I truely grew.
And now I know....
Today was a day that was meant for me,
And thankfully it will end with me on my knee.
Thankfully it began with me on my knee.
Then rushing and hurring to get about,

The Drive In
Layin here under that cloudy dark sky
Feelin the heavy cool breeze pass by
Listening to the children laugh
Everything around me feels like a summer bath
Quiet and peaceful just for a moment
I see the balloon that's been tied on for adornment
Watching that big beautiful screen
Taking in the people, cars, smells, the entire sceen
Speakers rumblin
Kids fumblin
Eating Reese's Piece's
Forgetting that my waistline increases
Bright scenes flash across the night air
Lovin this time I have to share
With five girls and one lonely boy
They all bring me such joy!
Marrae's asleep right by my knee
Talia's on her texting spree
Cherith and Logan are sitting outside
Kamarah's in the middle feeling denied
Katlin's on her phone
This would be no fun alone
Doesn't matter what we watch here
I just love my atmosphere
Sadly it's already time to go
Packing up under that Drive In glow
I'm lookin up at that cloudy dark sky
Sensing the heavy cool breeze makes me sigh
Oh how I love this feeling
It's emotionally healing
The last song is being played
Like my own personal serenade
Beautifully simple, I'm trying to imply
I'm just not ready to say goodbye
Feelin the heavy cool breeze pass by
Listening to the children laugh
Everything around me feels like a summer bath
Quiet and peaceful just for a moment
I see the balloon that's been tied on for adornment
Watching that big beautiful screen
Taking in the people, cars, smells, the entire sceen

Men Like You Are Hard To Find
Grandpa,
I love you
Men like you are so very few
I have this picture in my mind
of you so loving and so kind
You helped teach me right from wrong
You made me feel like I belong
I will never forget my summers with you
Listening to the cows go "moo"
"Let's go get a soda" you would say to me
And of course I would agree
You would let me pick out a treat
Or sometimes sit in the driver's seat!
Driving the tractor, playing in the cottonseed
Climbing the haystacks, knowing there's calf's to feed
You taught me about work
Even though I am sure I gave you a smirk
And as I grew, you were still there
Right beside me with me unaware
The feel of your wiskers against my face,
The comfort of your fatherly embrace
The blessings you gave me when I was sad,
It's true for me you were more like my dad
The gentle words you spoke to me
Your deep soothing voice when you were on your knee
I love you Grandpa,
And I know in my heart and mind
Men like you are hard to find
I love you
Men like you are so very few
I have this picture in my mind
